Properties

Cranberry extract contains a wide range of biologically active substances: arbutin, vitamin C, K, essential oils, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, gallic, ellagic, quinic, ursolic, citric, chlorogenic acids.

The main biologically active substances of cranberry extract are proanthocyanidins (PAC) – micronutrients related to polyphenolic compounds and possessing antioxidant properties, as well as the effects of inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria and the synthesis of inflammatory factors mainly in the urinary system.

Studies have found that proanthocyanidins prevent the attachment and reproduction of microorganisms on the epithelium of the urinary tract, thereby facilitating their excretion in the urine, and contribute to an increase in the body’s defenses.

The antioxidant properties of cranberry extract are also determined by the presence in the composition of ursolic, citric and chlorogenic acids, the protective properties of which are due to their ability to reduce the activity of free radicals.

Another active component of Cranberry Extract Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is involved in the regulation of redox processes, carbohydrate metabolism, helps to strengthen immunity and increase the body’s resistance to viral bacterial agents, preventing their reproduction in the urinary tract.

D-mannose belongs to polysaccharides and is a constituent of the epithelial tissue that lines the urinary tract. D-mannose is practically not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, and is not converted to glycogen. The substance directly enters the circulatory system unchanged, and, passing through the kidneys, is excreted in the urine, covering the epithelium of the bladder and urethra along the way. By attaching pathogenic pathogens (for example, E. coli) to its molecule, D-mannose helps to flush them out of the body during urination.
